Happy Holidays – Empowering Meditation for our Non-Self

Dear Friends, I wish you time to simply BE as we transition into the new year of 2015.

There is so much for us to DO, but in order for our actions to be kind and meaningful we need to be present. In the following guided meditation on the Six Elements we have an opportunity to nurture ourselves. It also helps us deepen our insight into non-self. When we realize that we do not have a separate self entity, that others are ourselves, our compassion can grow. With insight and compassion as base our actions with contain more goodness and beauty. These actions will contribute to the healing and transformation of ourselves, our family, our society and global community. This will help hold and heal our precious Earth.

I hope you have time to sit down, finding a comfortable posture, coming back to your breathing to practice this guided meditation. Remember what Thay teaches us, “time is not money, time is life, time is love”. Offer yourself some love!

You can stay with each of these exercises as long as you would like.

Breathing in, I am experiencing the in-breath. – Breathing out, I am experiencing the out-breath. – In-breath / Out-breath

Breathing in, I come in contact with the air element in me, through the breathing, the flow of energy and blood in my body. – Breathing out, I dwell with the air element in me. – Air element in me / Dwelling with Air element

Breathing in, I become aware of the earth element in me, in my bones, teeth, nails and all the solid parts of my body. – Breathing out, I dwell with the earth element in me. – Earth element in me / Dwelling with Earth element

Breathing in, I come in contact with the fire element in me, the heat in my body, the kidneys producing fire energy and life force, the warm blood. – Breathing out I dwell with the fire element in me. – Fire element in me / Dwelling with Fire element

Breathing in I come in contact with the water element in me, 70% of our body is water, the saliva in my mouth, the water in all my cells. – Breathing out I dwell with the water element in me. – Water element in me / Dwelling with Water element

Breathing in, I become aware of the space element in me, the hollow parts in my body, the 99. % of space in each of my cells. – Breathing out, I dwell with the space element in me. – Space element in me / Dwelling with Space element

Breathing in, I bring my awareness to the consciousness element in me, the mental activities, perceptions based on the senses, all my past experiences and all potential qualities are present. – Breathing out, I dwell in the consciousness element in me. – Consciousness element in me / Dwelling in Consciousness element

Breathing in, I enjoy my breathing. – Breathing out, I enjoy sitting, with nowhere to go and nothing to do. – Enjoying breathing / Enjoying sitting
